Alvarez has had a longstanding partnership with the Yairi family of luthiers in Kani, Japan that spans over 55 years. Kazuo Yairi's expertise and contributions can be seen and heard in every Alvarez guitar, from his innovative bracing and instrumental architecture to his knowledge of tonewoods and their unique characteristics.

Alvarez-Yairi guitars are the flagship of the brand, treated and crafted like handmade works of art. Every brace is hand-carved, and each neck is spokeshaved to perfection. High-grade tonewoods are aged naturally for years to decades before being used in the manufacturing process.

The JYM80CE is a beautiful jumbo shape guitar made from solid flamed maple backs and sides, which is designed to take advantage of the jumbo shape's best properties. It features the FST2 bracing system, which was developed through extensive research and features a forward-shifted X-brace design with scooped scalloping to optimize string separation, balance, and projection.

Alvarez's craftsmen take a deliberate approach to their finishes, allowing the high-grade tops to vibrate and move freely. The guitar features hand-cut and assembled pearl and abalone inlays, ivoroid binding, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, and ebony bridge pins.

The DC Bridge, a feature of the JYM80CE, is an innovation that enhances the guitar's performance. It allows the pins to go into the top of the guitar, increasing the down pressure, raising string tension, and improving the guitar's volume and sustain.

All Yairi Masterworks, including the JYM80CE, are made from premium tonewoods that have been naturally seasoned for 5 to 15 years in Kani's ideal climate.
